Well while I wait for the new Tablet which I'm sure your already aware of I have been doing some research.

Many tablets have USB host control allowing external hdd's, keyboards, mice and so forth. Well I wanted to know how to get the best quality audio out of the Archos G9 101.

Many tablets on the market do have HDMI output which will output Digital video and spdif audio.
I was looking at going down the path of getting an external box that would just split the audio output from the hdmi. The one below has hdmi input and hdmi output but also will output a coaxial SPDIF audio signal and line level output. No headphone output. Also the quality of sound would be dependent on the DAC used inside this box from China so analog is a no go. Now if I used this I could have the option of using an external DAC headphone amplifier. This would mean yet another box to carry around and have to figure out how to power.

This option might be helpful for those who don't have hdmi inputs on their avr and but do on say a projector. This is how my current cinema is setup with a projector running digital hdmi video and audio is normally with spdif from the actual device. So most definitely will be thinking about this possibility.

Next option: USB DAC headphone amplifier

Well as I have just found out, External USB audio sound cards are actually compatible with this tablet.

After a lot of searching on ebay to see if I could purchase a brand new sealed tablet for cheaper than the RRP of around $400 I managed to find one for an excellent price of $300 delivered. Substantially a lot more than the Archos G8 101 standard version with an A8 single core 1Ghz. Being a self obsessed tech geek I had to have the latest and greatest!

After some contact with the PR marketing it would not of been possible for DUA to have access to the review tablet in the near future. 
To showcase the best for you I have chosen to bite the bullet (and use it as an excuse) to buy the latest and greatest. Since it was released at CES 2012 only last month in North America, the review units provided by Archos are in high demand by many magazines and other tech sites who got in first.

Right at this moment I am currently looking for a new laptop for mainly Photography/Audio/Video editing. Also looking for a good cheap tablet for all the international flights that I take since Downunder is so dam far from everything!

The PC requirements had to include:
  • 17" LCD screen at 1920x1080 resolution
  • 2nd Gen Core i7 (hopefully quad core)
  • 8GB DDR3 Ram Minimum
  • Beefy graphics card to make video rendering more responsive.
I am proud to say I have narrowed the laptop down after weeks of investigation to buying possibly an 
ASUS G74SX Gaming laptop.
