Do It Yourself Audio/Visual ProjectsEvery so often I come across very interesting DIY projects which really catch my attention.
Also from time to time when the situation calls I embark on these or ones that I also design. These projects listed on this page are a collation of my own designs as well as others. DIY online community projectsThe 'Elsinore' Loudspeaker Project - © Joe RasmussenAn excellent speaker project. High end, beautiful design technically and aesthetically.
This site is a wonderful place to see a speaker project from idea through to final production. I personally learnt so much from even just reading through the hundreds of design pages. A friend in Brisbane, QLD Australia has personally built these and I must say I hope to do the same one day soon. Welcome the Reed Anarchy Exodus 6.5" Tapered Horn subwooferA subwoofer designed by the audio forum community at http://www.avsforum.com perfect for those who do not have space for a large subwoofer but would rather multiple smaller enclosures. AVSForum - LilMike Constant Image Width (CIW) Electronic Masking Projector Screen
Here is a home made project for those who are looking for a constant width screen. Constant height are more popular for those who use Anamorphic lenses. CIW are useful for those who have a 16:9 ratio native projector and want to watch 2.35:1 cinescope aspect ratio but don't want to see the "black bars" at the top and bottom. This masking system frames the image correctly. All the parts are available and fairly easy to put together. Extremely recommended.
Myself I have an XGA DLP 1024x768 resolution projector (which is 4:3 aspect ratio). Which is perfectly fine for HD TV but for 16:9 widescreen movies I am looking for the correct screen aspect to frame the video display. AVSForum - CIR-Engineering | Quick Links
