Will Atenton (Daniel Craig) quit a high-profile job in Manhattan to relocate his wife, Libby (Rachel Weisz), and their two daughters to a quaint New England town. My Take:Dream house is a very deceptive movie that is detrimental to the movie itself. The trailer is selling the movie as a horror whereas the reality it’s a psychological mystery or a thriller at most. So before watching this movie, do NOT watch the trailer, or if you’ve watched the trailer, throw away the horror / mystery preconception out of your mind and you will actually be surprised on how good the storyline actually is.
Unlike most movies of this era (read: nowadays), the scenes were timed in natural colour palette without any secondary colour push making it one of the more pleasing movie of today. The transfer quality is solid with amazing localised sounds that on occasions rocked my theatre room with its solid but not overbearing LFE and natural surround steering. Although this movie may not necessarily a must-buy, it’s still clever enough to be very entertaining from beginning to almost the end where things turn from mysterious, to thrilling with twists and turns, to.... “they seriously use that cliche?” Equipment used for this review:
